November's Newsletter

It's that time of year when we start all the hard work to prepare the trails for the upcoming season. The work we do now is what makes the trails safe and accessible. If this work doesn't get done the trails don't open. We have only a handful of people who do the work and would greatly appreciate help. Tom Mask is the trail boss and the person to call to get direction to help. His number is 572-1332. He has already been mowing and signing trails.

The AWSC is really pushing for the CAP program. This would be a 2 tier program for the trail support in the state of Wisconsin. What is being proposed is that everyone would pay a 1 time registration fee for the time you own your snowmobile of $15.00. Then everyone including out of state and in state residents will pay a $35.00 trail pass fee. If you belong to an AWSC snowmobile club you would only pay a lesser fee of $15.00 annually. The details are being worked out.

New Wood County trail maps are done and they will be distributed this month.

We are working on grooming fees for establishments we groom to that are not on the funded trails. This includes a $50.00 fee for the ad in our newsletter & website, a $100.00 ad on the billboard the will be on the drag. We will also be selling ads to any business that would like to advertise at the listed prices plus a set up fee (for the billboard) of $20.00.

Th Chug-a-Bugs will be at our next meeting. They are disbanding and some would like to join our club. There were some stipulations and we need you to be there with your input.

The Kellner Knights are hosting the County Ride on February 14th and are thinking of meeting at the Grand Rapids Lions Club. We are looking to make this into a fundraiser.

We now have a WEBSITE!! Check it out it's
http://www.kellnerknights.com/ If you're not receiving your emails about the monthly newsletters, you can find the link to them on the website.

Your memberships are due. There will be a form on the website soon for you to fill out to renew. At the Donahue Super Sports Fall Show we gained a new member!

Our next meeting is Nov. 13 and ther will be a Fundraiser before the meeting. It's a Partylite Extravaganza from 4:00 to 7:00 at The Ridges. Public is welcome and our regular meeting will follow. You were sent a personal invitation to this. Please support this effort.

September's Newsletter

I Hope everyone had a wonderful summer. Now it’s time to get to business with the trails already!! At the August meeting Dave Smith noticed that the Griffith bridge needs more rubber but the structure is good. The area is also getting tore up by four wheelers.

If you have a daughter that would like to run for AWSC Miss Snowflake, please contact Julie Kreutzer at 325-3903.

GROOMER NEWS
The groomer is here! Earth Design picked it up for us for the cost of fuel plus $300.00. We purchased insurances for the groomer for $500.00 a year. We ended up borrowing $20,000 for the groomer with a 15 year loan at 6 ¼ %. The rest of the cost came out of the club’s savings. Our old groomer is for sale, if you know of anyone who would be interested in it let us know!
We will be purchasing a GPS unit to put into the new groomer.

At the August meeting we did some fund raising brainstorming and had lots of ideas. Join us at the September meeting to discuss our fund raising ideas.

There will not be a Central Wisconsin Snowshow this year. Instead we will maybe do something with Donahue Super Sports & Country Sports with their season kick offs.

We have invited bar & business owners to our next meeting to discuss the grooming of the unfunded trails going to their establishments.

Club dues will be going up this year. They will be a $30.00 flat fee per married family with dependant children up to age 21.

August's Newsletter

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer! Hopefully with all the rain we've had this year that'll be a sign of a nice snowy winter.

Just a couple things to note for this month. Take note that the next regular meeting is Thursday, Aug. 14 at 7:00 p.m. at The Ridges. In previous newsletters it was marked as the 7th.

Don't forget about the campout August 8, 9, 10 at the Oakwood Campsites in Wildrose. Come and camp or just stop out for a visit. Call the campground for availability at, 920-622-4361.

We'd like to give a big thank you to Buzz's bar for donations at the landowners appreciation dinner.

The groomer has landed!!! Come to the meeting Thurs. Aug. 14th for more information! See you there!

Club Picnic

I just wanted to remind everyone that the club picnic is on Thurs. June 12th. It's at Ken & Sue Hopfensperger's house located at 3510 Chestnut Streeet, Wisconsin Rapids. Meat and beverages will be provided. Just bring a dish to pass. I do believe they will have their pool ready so bring your swimsuits too! Thanks to Ken & Sue for hosting this event!

In case you haven't heard yet the club did purchase a new (used) groomer. So, if you have any fundraising ideas, please share them, we need to do all the fundraisers we can to pay for this groomer so we can have nice trails!

And speaking of fund raisers, I had an idea for one and thought I'd just throw it out there to see what everyone thinks. I think it'll have to be something we do next spring, but we could start planning it and be prepared for it. If you think we can pull it off yet this spring/summer, let me know. Since I've been working in the garden and flower shopping I was thinking we could do a perenial sale. Those of us who have perenials growing around the yard could split some of them, put them in containers and we could sell them to the public. There's a few people in the area that do this just for themselves and the Master Gardener's have a sale every year in early May. If done properly, I think it could be a profitable fundraiser. Let me know your thoughts.

May's Newsletter

Just a note to all volunteers who have put time in on the trails, your time sheets are due in for Portage Cty to Dave Kreutzer by May 20th.

May 3rd a group will be looking into a groomer purchase. We will be looking at a unit and make a decision and maybe a purchase. A loan will be needed and we will need to have fund raisers! If you want flat trails we will need your help!

Remember when taking down trails signs to inventory the black and orange signs. We need to replace them next year!! Call Tom Mask with the numbers at 715-424-0372.

Check your emails for this Newsletter, we are going to try to get that up and going. We will send the newsletter via mail and email this month. If you don't get an email call Trudi at 715-424-2660.

June 12 is our club picnic at Ken & Sue Hopfensperger's house located at 3510 Chestnut Streeet, Wisconsin Rapids. Meat and beverages will be provided. Just bring a dish to pass. Thanks to Ken & Sue for hosting this event!

May 18th is our Landowner's Appreciation Dinner. You should have received your invitations by now so please RSVP and really consider attending the dinner to show your thanks to the landowners for letting us use their land! Without them we would not have any trails. We need volunteers to help in different areas for this event. We are also looking for door prizes to be donated. Last year we asked for people to bring in any unopened bottles of booze that they may have laying around for our booze basket and would like you to bring whatever you have again this year. It really saved us a lot of money with those donations and the basket was very interesting.

Calendar of Events
